What aircraft records should be archived?
Any document that is related to your aircraft can be archived. It is a matter of preference and budget. Some of the most popular archives include:
Can I update my archive with new log book entries?
Yes! Updating E-Logs is EASY and risk-free.
Most E-Logs customers update their E-Logs immediately after every Annual Inspection. They simply e-mail, fax, or snail mail us copies of any new records generated since their last archive, and we create a new archive disk(s) for them.
Check out our Options page for details.
Can I upgrade my archive at a later date?
YES! Upgrading E-Logs is EASY and risk-free.
Once we have all of your records digitally archived, upgrades can be performed at any time, simply by adding features to your archive and generating new disk(s).
Check out our Options page for details.
Is it risky to ship my log books?
There is an inherent risk that your log books could get lost or destroyed at home, at your office, at your FBO, in your aircraft, or during shipment. Since E-Logs was started in 2003, none of our customer's log books have been lost or destroyed during shipment. On the other hand, we are aware of several aircraft owners who have lost some or all of their critical aircraft records during that same time period.
Absolute Aviation has developed procedures to minimize the risk of loss during shipment, such as:
None of our customer's log books have been lost during shipment.
Do E-Logs take the place of my paper log books?
No. Although electronic aircraft log books are possible, E-Logs were designed as a back-up to your log books. E-Logs also makes it easy to send your log books to prospective buyers.
How are digital archives used?
Each Level of archive has a different use.
Level One archive is a basic back-up of your records, much like a photocopy of all of your records, except this copy is digitized on a CD-ROM. Every page becomes one file on the CD-ROM. This archive is used as a simple back-up copy of your critical aircraft documents.
Level Two archive is a basic working archive. Not only does this provide a back-up copy to your critical aircraft documents, but the pages are all strung together like the actual log book (allowing the reader to quickly browse the pages). The table of contents, with links to every page, also allows the reader to quickly locate pages and scan the documents. This is the most popular level for most applications.
Level Three archive is the premium working archive. This level is used by mechanics, inspectors, owners, and prospective buyers who wish to perform in depth log book research. Links between AD listings and log book entries allows the reader to quickly verify AD compliance. This greatly speeds up AD research, and can save you hundreds of dollars in future IA AD search times.
How do you archive my records?
Each page of your critical documents is scanned into a universally readable format (.pdf) and digitally saved on a CD-ROM. But scanning is only part of the process.
Once the pages are scanned, the files can be organized into the various Levels of archives. This is where our experienced IA's come in to play. A Level 3 archive requires the IA to read every page so he can identify important events and sign-off's.
Anyone can photocopy or scan log books, but E-Logs provides more than a simple photocopy.
Your digital archive is generated by FAA licensed A&P technicians with an Inspection Authorization, most of whom have over 20 years of Annual Inspection experience. Our Chief Inspector has been in the aviation industry since 1982 and provides Pre-Buy Inspections, Annuals, Maintenance Training, and DAR services for clients around the world.
Every good Pre-Buy Inspector knows that the best place to start a Pre-Purchase Inspection is with the aircraft documents. A great deal can be learned about an aircraft without even casting an eye on the aircraft itself. This fact is not lost on our clients who hire us to perform our Pre-Sell program on their aircraft - BEFORE they put their investment up for sale.
Anyone can build a house, but if you want quality in your investment, you hire a professional. Archiving your aircraft's critical documentation is no different. That's why E-Logs uses some of the most experienced Inspectors in the industry.
Do you keep copies of my records?
Yes. As a back-up to your archive, we keep a copy of your archive on file.
Do you share any of my information with anyone?
NO. We does not share your personal or aircraft information with anyone.
